Daytime doula care
An entire community of women, grandmothers and household help might have supported the postpartum mother in the past. However, today geography and family dynamics make it hard for a mom to suspend her usual activity for more than a few days. Postpartum doula support allows mothers to replenish themselves so they don’t become drained. And at the same time fosters an environment that encourages everything outside the mother-baby orbit to fall away for a while.

Breastfeeding support
I have experience troubleshooting with mothers and their babies as they get off to a good start with feeding baby. Whatever is happening with baby whether its positioning or oversupply I am happy to be a resource. Seeking knowledge from good sources to resolve the issue. And encouraging reaching out to experts if needed.
A mother deserves special recognition after pregnancy and birth and she requires rest. Taking care of her needs speeds recovery. What those needs look like may vary slightly for each woman according to her parenting style but some aspects are universal. There’s practical: meals, laundry, basic newborn care, and arranging things in the immediate environment; physical: showering (which can feel impossible or like a luxury), breastfeeding, and resting; and other: help with older siblings, pet care, light housekeeping and referrals to sources the mom may need to contact. Let’s map out a plan that addresses your biggest concerns.
Emotional and psychological factors might unexpectedly emerge during this time. A doula is equipped to listen and offer support when a mother is still trying to integrate her birth experience. Although the doula is not there in a medical capacity, she does keep an eye out for any potential concerns in the mother or the baby and can suggest when referrals might be required.
Overnight doula care
Families who choose overnight postpartum care receive much needed rest, helping to restore mind and body. An overnight doula handles bottle feeding(either pumped milk or formula), diaper changing, and burping baby. She utilizes soothing methods and safe sleep procedures for your newborn. Waking a breastfeeding mom for a feeding can also be part of the arrangement. A comfy chair close to baby is all that is required for the doula for the night. Overnight doula care can be an effective remedy for parental sleep deprivation in the early weeks of postpartum. Eventually, the baby starts to sleep for somewhat longer stretches, and then mom and dad begin to feel a little more rested. Let’s design a schedule that gives your family the most relief.
